Michael Mizuno X

Michael Mizuno is the older brother of Sailor Mercury. He is a fan-made character and never appears officially in the anime or the manga. His attacks are based around his swordplay as well as the usage of his Variable Weapon System wrist computer that enable him to use certain abilities of the Sailor Senshi team. Like his sister, he utilizes the elements of water and ice (and later darkness when he turns on the Senshi following the R Season). He narrowly survives every arc of the series, opting to be the last defense against the Dark Kingdom in the first season, questioning his fate in the future in the second season, escaping from the Death Busters in the third season, being absent in most of the fourth season with occasional calls home and letters to his sister and mother, and nearly having his star seed stolen but escaping at the last moment in the fifth season. He does his best to keep up with the Sailor Senshi's growth in powers, training himself physically and spending most of his time upgrading his equipment and weapons. Michael's role has changed over time, starting as a mysterious aid (Appearing quite rarely and usually only to assist Sailor Mercury) to heroic ally arriving at crucial times (Taking the role from Tuxedo Mask while he was captured by the Dark Kingdom) to helpful ally in setting up the win (He analyzes the enemy tactics while hidden before making his presence known and lets the others in on what he discovered while watching) to traitorous villain (Joins the Death Busters and gives them vague information on what he knows about the targets they're hunting) to uneasy neutrality (He distrusts the Starlights as well as the enemy they face but isn't willing to help the Sailor Senshi in sharing what he knows about them). By the end of Stars, he lets go of his hatred after making some friends. He disappears for a long period of time, becoming somewhat of a recluse as the group splinters and goes their separate ways. Michael resurfaces but not alone as he has changed a crucial part of his destiny, joining hands with Sailor Venus.

How does he/she dress? Michael usually dresses depending on the occasion. However, he usually prefers dressing in princely and noble attire. Though casually, he prefers a black jacket, white-shirt and black jeans.

Bio: At first, Michael is seen to be a somewhat mysterious young man. Not even his blood sister Ami knew much about him, only that he had traveled with their father until one day return where he to Japan and has not spoken to or of him since then. He communicates infrequently with his sister and mother and is often seen alone. He works part time tending bar downtown (The owners of the bar also own the apartment complex he lives in and allows him to stay for free as long as he works there). While he doesn't directly join in on the every day activities of the other Senshi in his civilian form, he'll often join the fight against the enemy in his transformed state, coming up with brilliant strategies in bringing down the enemy or giving hints on a weakness to the others. He tends to play an even smaller role than Tuxedo Mask does, and it usually only revolves around helping Sailor Mercury. (It's not until Tuxedo Mask is taken by the Dark Kingdom where his identity as Prince Mercury is revealed to the others and his role becomes more expanded.) While his sister dislikes fights, he is intrigued by the challenge in besting an enemy with his swordplay. (Though like Ami, he dislikes infighting, especially between Usagi and Rei.)

Michael reveals to Ami that he never had a dream of what he wanted to become in life, often having to live in the moment and work while pushing through night classes so he could graduate early and be able to tend bar. Ami speculates that Michael's love of fencing could be a dream to pursue and winning a gold medal would be like a dream come true. Michael tells her that it might not really mean much because once you've become the best at something, it becomes no challenge anymore and it's all downhill from there. He does state that having a wife and children and a fulfilling job that can care for all of them is a dream he'd be interested in fighting for. Michael's relationship with Ami becomes very close up until the end of the R season, Michael telling her he wished he chose to stay with them instead of following their father's stupid way of the artist lifestyle and that he doesn't want to miss anymore time being family with her. After the R season (due to visiting the future with the Sailor Senshi and learning of his unfulfilled life and meaningless death) he becomes extremely cold and outright rude to Ami and his former friends. (As far as to call Usagi a spoiled brat that didn't deserve the peace his life paid for). His descent to darkness makes him become bitter, angry and vicious. He often helps setup plans the Witches 5 hatch in trying to retrieve the Talisman and does come to blows with Tuxedo Mask who remarks at how disgusted in seeing how far he fell. After the defeat of Pharaoh 90, he leaves Japan for a while (the majority of the Super S. There are occasions where Ami remarks that he sent letters to their mother telling her he was okay and would return soon). When he returns, he's less hostile towards the Sailor Senshi, becoming more of an antihero that fights the enemy and maintains a somewhat unfriendly aura towards the group. After the Sailor Stars season, Michael suffers a personal incident that causes him to fall into depression for a long time. He finally emerges due to help and support from Minako.

Hobbies: Fencing, ballroom dancing, taking trips (like cruises or carriage rides through the city to simply marvel at the landscape), listening to stories, reading, taking walks.

Educational Background: Took a lot of night classes and summer classes to graduate as early as he possibly could.

Intelligence Level: Not as high as Ami, but still above average of most people.

Learning Experiences: What he lacked in formal education that hurts him in practical situations is balanced by his street smarts and people skills obtained from tending bar. It allowed him to grow much differently from his shyer sister. He's far more sociable and a bit more vulgar with his speech because of the environment.

How self-confident is the character? Michael always stays humble and knows he can improve. While he is confident in his abilities, he's learned never to stay comfortable and become better than he was the day before.

Emotional Characteristics

How does the character deal with anger? Michael keeps his temper pretty well controlled, knowing that it made his movements sloppy and predictable if he acted in anger.

With sadness? When Michael is sad, he has a very hard time dealing with it. He usually will confides in a close friend about his sadness and try to talk himself out of it. For others who are sad, he tries to cheer them up or have them look at the silver lining of the situation, usually with mixed results. Despair is the hardest emotion for Michael to deal with as it is the direct counter to Hope.

With conflict? Michael tries to avoid conflict, but when it becomes unavoidable, he tries to play mediator. Once again, mixed results. When he's the one filled with conflict, he questions everything, trying to find the proverbial needle in the haystack of questions.

With change? Michael can usually adapt to subtle changes, but big ones take a bit of getting used to. If it's a good change, easier to adapt. A bad one will take longer.

With loss? Michael has trouble coping with loss. Because Michael is usually alone, close companions are rare and losing them becomes incredibly painful and difficult for him to deal with. Coping with death or losing a friend to either betrayal or them severing ties is something he struggles with.

Devices/Weapons

Mercury Sensor: (Like Sailor Mercury's Mercury Goggle/VR visor, but data collected is transferred to the wrist computer and processed. Once processed, the VR visor displays a number of stats on the condition of who was scanned, the visor constantly sending updated information to the wrist computer while the subject is within sight. Stats such as heart rate, severity of wounds, bone structure, objects hampering/restricting movements, etc. can be seen and identified. Because of his frequent encounters and close relationship with the Sailor Senshi, the Sensor is also able to scan the special attacks of the Sailor Senshi and analyze the details. After the R season, Michael used Tomoe Labs to upgrade the abilities of his Sensor, allowing him to analyze the attacks of even the Outer Senshi as well as the upgraded abilities of the Inner Senshi.

V.W.S. Super Wrist Computer: The Variable Weapon System Super Wrist Computer is Michael's equivalent to Ami's Supercomputer. It doubles as his transformation item as well as an arm guard on his forearm. This gives Michael of abilities that make him a dangerous opponent to his enemy. While the Sensors scan the data of enemies, the computer analyzes and translates the data accordingly to the sensor. One such ability is utilizing the Variable Weapon System implemented in the computer and being able analyze AND copy the special attack of the Sailor team. After the R Season, Michael was able to upgrade his system even further by allowing him to magnify or 'charge up' the attack and create new variations with even more power and range than the original. Of course, this system does have its flaws, such as he cannot utilize an attack upon acquiring it on first analysis (further testing and compatibility issues need to be ironed out and formed into versions he can safely use) nor can he use it to mimic Senshi outside of the nine planets (The Starlights, Chibi Moon, Galaxia). Attacks that require a base weapon (The Moon Tiara, the Space Sword, the Silence Glaive, Sailor Moon's wand attacks etc.) cannot be used unless he possesses the item and even then, some still won't respond to his ability (The main reason being that Michael cannot mimic Saturn's destructive power nor Sailor Moon's purifying power). While the ability to use these attacks are limited (it requires quite a bit of his strength to mimic the special attacks), he can train himself to be able to use it more frequently.

House Mercury Blade: Hyperion: The royal blade of Mercury that has stayed by his side. Unlike most weapons acquired by the Sailor Senshi, this weapon grows with the wielder as long as they represent House Mercury. The sword is said to be a representation of the user's heart and transforms as such. Many of the charged versions of the attacks acquired from the Senshi introduce Michael's sword into it. The blade cannot be shattered unless the wielder's life is vanquished. (In the R season, Michael's broken sword rests upon his headstone).

Mercury Dark Crystal: The counterpart to the Mercury Crystal Ami uses to transform into Super Sailor Mercury. This crystal was sent to Michael unbeknownst to him by his father. Upon touching it, Michael felt a similar power that came from Ami when she obtained the Mercurian Crystal. Despite its name, the crystal harbors no darkness and is merely a sister crystal to the one obtained by Mercury. It is unknown how Michael's father got this or how he even managed to deliver it to his son. The crystal resolves the energy problem Michael had when using the V.W.S. system for the more powerful Sailor Senshi techniques, allowing him to remain on par with the ever growing Sailor team.

Powers

Mercury: Because Michael and Ami share the same element, it takes little effort for him to use Ami's techniques as well as charging them with the V.W.S. system.

Shabon Spray -- Mist Weaver: Michael holds his sword close to his chest as he allows the attack to shield his body. Unlike Ami, he is able to move while the spray creates the barrier. Useful for taking out groups of enemies vulnerable to water.

Shabon Spray Freezing -- Ice Lance: Michael freezes the air around his sword, increasing its length and size as well as razor sharpness. Michael can stab a target with the blade and pull his sword out, leaving the giant blade of ice embedded into the targeted area.

Shine Aqua Illusion -- Shining Aura Deception: One of the few charged attacks that Michael doesn't utilize his sword for. Michael conjures a tremendous amount of energy into both of his hands before cupping his hands together and firing a solid icy blue beam of destructive energy at the target. Michael has the ability to direct the beam while he's firing and the longer he fires, the more energy he consumes. Michael can also choose whether or not to keep the ice/water element in it or not. This is considered Michael's signature attack.

Shine Snow Illusion -- Flash Freeze Deception: Michael stabs his sword to the ground (Or in the instance he can't touch the ground, points it downward) and calls out his attack. A freezing circle surrounds him as ice spikes suddenly shoot out from all around him like a frozen porcupine, covering a rather large radius. Depending on how much power he puts into the attack determines how wide the radius.

Mercury Aqua Mirage -- Still Stream Cut: Michael releases several slashes from his blade, with streams of water coming from them. If one of the streams of water make contact, the enemy is trapped in a water globe before taking a critical slash, the water globe cut perfectly in half (and often the enemy too. Though stronger foes will be critically damaged).

Mars: Because Michael and Rei share opposite elements, it took a bit more effort for him to use Rei's techniques and charging them with the V.W.S. system took a longer time to master and control. It wasn't until Eudial's upgrades to the V.W.S. in the S season which made the fire element effortless for Michael to utilize.

Fire Soul -- Flame Sword: Michael imbues with sword with a Fire Soul and releases a powerful slash that burns everything in front of him. While powerful, the range is limited to his sword's reach.

Fire Soul Bird -- Phoenix Soul: A spark burns the ground around Michael, drawing the outline of a phoenix before the flames rise up and form wings on his back. Michael has limited flight with these wings and can fly at high speeds, causing the flames to form around him and collide into enemies, burning them.

Burning Mandala -- Firestorm Inferno: Several flame orbs surround Michael before he extends his blade forward and absorbs each orb into his weapon. He then raises his blade and twirls it with one hand, unleashing a storm of flame rings around him.

Mars Snake Fire -- Fire Buster X: Michael fires a stream of flame from his wrist computer similar to Eudial's fire buster. Michael can control the range and the intensity of the flame as well as shut it off at will. Michael often uses this to finish an opponent, grabbing the victim by the throat and lifting them into the air, unleashing the fire buster to completely consume the victim.

Jupiter: One of the more difficult elements to control due to the high amounts of energy required to produce the attacks as well as how dangerous a misfire can be to the user's health, Michael took special care when learning Makoto's attacks.

Supreme Thunder -- Lightning Cutter: Michael raises his sword to the sky as lightning strikes the blade imbues it with is element. This makes it nearly unblockable as the radiating and sparkling blade can easily cut through steel (the lightning enhances the sharpness of his blade). Furthermore, if an opponent is stabbed, their body goes numb due to an electrical current which causes the muscles to contract, making it impossible for the opponent to move.

Supreme Thunder Dragon -- Dragon Thunder God: Michael raises his blade to the sky as thunder clouds form. He then charges the thunder clouds with lightning from his blade and summons a lightning dragon that emerges from the heavens and crashes down on the enemy.

Sparkling Wide Pressure -- Lightning Flash: Michael will perform a shadow-dash, turning him invisible and producing a horizontal trail of thunder-bolts when he reappears, paralyzing enemies. When he reappears, he slices the air quickly with his lightning imbued blade. The cutting power can sever appendages and deeply cut into armor.

Jupiter Thunder Bolt -- Thunder Blades: When struck by Lightning, Michael forms a sword made of lightning in both hands before combining them into one, pulling back and swinging the blade at the enemy. This causes a storm of violently electricity to ripple through the ground between Michael and the enemy, destroying everything in between the two. Once the enemy is caught in the lightning, it'll continue to fry them until their death or the energy of the attack fades.

Venus: At first it wasn't that difficult for Michael to utilize the power of light in Minako's attacks, however, when he switched sides, it became painfully obvious that he'd need to work in order for the light to respond to his dark and vengeful heart. Venus' powers are the most difficult to control and compared to the other Inner Senshi, the most powerful. When he became an antihero and not openly warring with the Senshi, these attacks because a little easier to perform.

Crescent Beam Variations -- Spiral Crescent Beam Cannon: Much to his surprise, Michael discovered that Sailor Venus had already expanded on maximized the power of her crescent beam and utilized several variations. Taking the variations into account, Michael came up with a special version of the Crescent Beam that is constant and can penetrate through an opponent even if they are wearing armor (this causes the Crescent Beam to spiral).

Crescent Beam Shower -- Meteor Rain: Michael uses telekinesis to raise a large chunk of land into the sky before firing a Crescent Beam into it, causing it to explode and send down crescent beam charged debris upon the enemy.

Venus Love-Me Chain -- Blade Whip: Michael imbues his blade with light energy before transforming into a blade whip. He can bind an enemy similar to the Love-me chain and send a powerful shock of energy through the blade onto the enemy. The difference in the attacks is that Michael's blade whip retains its sharpness and can puncture and cut the target that he's binding.

Because of the power of the Moon Kingdom and Outer Senshi, while Michael had the knowledge to copy their attacks, he does not have the necessary elemental mastery or power output to summon them, his own version or a greater version of it.

I've had a lot of people who have supported me through the years... whether it was the Sailor Senshi or their siblings that I befriended, they all helped me in one way or another. That support system was nearly broken because none of us could let go of our meaningless grudges. It led to a lot of broken hearts, distrust, and pain. But there was one person who stood up and refused to let both sides drift apart. She resurrected my dead heart and one by one, she helped each member of our group and together we solved each thing... we rebuilt bridges, we've reconnected ties that were severed and we became a group, a team, a family again. Even when I suffered Time's scar which was the worst pain of my life, she embraced me. She never let go... she kept my head above the sea of sorrow, refusing to let me drown. She is the one who saved us all, she is the one we owe everything to, she is the beautiful, blonde goddess of love and beauty. She is my beloved wife, Minako Aino.

Described as "an anomaly in time" by Sailor Pluto, he challenges fate by walking his own path.

This has led to many conflicts with the Sailor Senshi and his eventual exile. It is short lived, however.

Returning from his exile with Sailor Venus, he faces a new threat as well as old enemies...

"I'm sorry, Nii-san, but you know I can't do that. This isn't a matter you should be involved in, so please leave before you make things worse!"

Michael Mizuno X:

"I guess I'm gonna have to make things worse then... and force the information out of you!"

[after the battle]

Sailor Mercury:

"U..ugh... you're still as... stubborn as ever... "

Michael Mizuno X:

"I'm only here to help. Now tell me what you know about the enemy."

Sailor Mercury:

"...all I know is that there is a boy with red hair who is bent on reforming the Dark Kingdom. I'm sorry, but that is truly everything I can tell you. I realize I can't stop you here, Nii-san... so please... go."

Michael Mizuno X:

"A boy with red hair? Could it be...?"

Destined Battle: Sailor Venus

Michael Mizuno X:

"Seems like this is the spot. You may leave now, Venus-chan. I will handle this alone."

Sailor Venus:

"Michael-kun... I'm not leaving you here in this place alone! I do believe in you, I really do! But you can't fight this by yourself..."

Michael Mizuno X:

"If that red haired boy really has brought back the Dark Kingdom, then one of us needs to stay alive to defend the earth. Think this through, Venus-chan... if we both die, who's going to warn the others? At least if you survive, you can convince the Sailor Senshi... all I could convince them to do is send me back into exile."

Sailor Venus:

"It's not that easy! Do you you think I'd go on to live my life happily after watching you die? In case you haven't figured it out me and the Sailor Senshi don't like to sacrifice anyones life, not even one anothers! You know yourself that we can both make it out of here alive and yet you choose to do this alone? Those girls are much smarter than you think. They'd find a way with or without my help. I'm staying and that's it."

Michael Mizuno X:

"Of course I couldn't ask you to do that... you feel the same way I do... and if I were in your position, I'd be doing the exact same thing. But you are wrong about one thing, my princess. I don't know if we can make it out of here alive together. But so be it, Venus-chan. Understand that I too couldn't go on if I had to sacrifce myself, but one of us is not going to fight with the boy so soon!

[after the battle]

Michael Mizuno X:

"Sorry, Venus. Just hang tight for a bit. You'll be able to move again soon."

Sailor Venus:

"D-Dark Prince Of Merc-Michael-kun! You don't have to do this alone! P-Please let me help you!"

Michael Mizuno X:

"I promise I won't die. Trust me. I'll come back to you... Mina-chan."

Final Boss: Sethos Beryl

Sethos Beryl:

"You... from the very beginning, you caused my mother and our beautiful kingdom much grief. You, the servant of a lowly planet. You, the self proclaimed 'Dark Prince of Mercury,' You, the little insignificant spec that is preventing my ultimate revenge against the one who has stolen my planet. You, the powerless fool who is delaying my vengeance against the moon witch that stole my planet's prince, dare live upon it because all the other planets in the system are barren wastelands. What could YOU have to say to me, the rightful heir to the Earth and crown prince of the Dark Kingdom?"

Michael Mizuno X:

"Looks like someone did their homework. I know who you are, Sethos Beryl. And the incredible pain and sorrow you must feel. But you are misinformed about one thing. Yes, your mother was in love with your father, but it was a one sided love. Your mother betrayed the Earth."

Sethos Beryl:

"Silence! Your hollow words hold no meaning! A lowly piece of trash like you could never understand! How dare you try to turn this around! I will not betray my mother like my father had! Prepare yourself, Mercurian! I'm going to forever bury you in a oblivion of infinite darkness and retake my throne!"

[after the battle]

Ending: "Your Destiny"

[Michael picks up the sword Seth was using before walking towards the fallen and defeated warrior. Michael kneels down as Seth turns his head to face him.]

Sethos Beryl:

"Go on... do it... finish me..."

[Michael is silent, looking at Seth before looking at the sword. He then turns slightly as he lifts the weapon and grips the hilt with both hands. Seth chuckles]

Sethos Beryl:

"I knew I was going to die when I discovered the truth. Destiny wouldn't allow a Beryl to live in a world ruled by the Moon Kingdom."

[Michael turns to Seth, sword in hand. He then raises it over his head]

[Seth closes his eyes and clenches his teeth tightly as Michael brings the sword down. After a long moment, Seth slowly opens his eyes to see the sword stabbed into the ground inches away from his head]

Sethos Beryl:

"Wh-what?! Why did you...?"

[Michael turns back to face Seth who sat up a bit to stare at him in disbelief]

Michael Mizuno X:

"Your destiny is yours to make. This war with the Sailor Senshi? It's not yours to fight. Let the ghosts of the past lie."

Sethos Beryl:

"But... my mother was betrayed!"

Michael Mizuno X:

"Your mother did the betraying. Your father fell in love with the Princess of the Moon. No gimmicks, no spells, no enchantments, nothing. Your mother was jealous and that jealousy turned into hate and with that, she joined the Dark Kingdom."

Sethos Beryl:

"N-no... that can't be true... that... that's impossible...!"

Michael Mizuno X:

"Think about that for a moment. If what I say was a lie, would you be alive right now? Or dead and wiped from existence like the rest of your Dark Kingdom? Your mother wasn't an angel, young man. Don't let her hatred be yours. If you let it consume you, you'll destroy the very planet you're laying claim to."

Sethos Beryl:

"...! My... planet..."

Michael Mizuno X:

"Oh? You feel for this planet, don't you? You feel a kinship with it. It's only natural, you being the son of the Earth Prince. I don't agree with everything the Sailor Senshi do, but our goals do line up -- we will protect this planet, we will keep the peace, and we will fight anyone who tries to disturb it. I'm not saying you need to be friends with them... I'm simply saying... they're better off co-existing with than fighting."

[Michael walks off leaving Seth alone]

[Michael returns to the meeting point, noticing that the decaying environment was quickly returning to normal. One thing that wasn't normal, though, was... Sailor Venus wasn't there.]

Michael Mizuno X:

"Where did she...?"

Sailor Venus:

"V-Venus-chan! I told you I'd be back."

Sailor Venus:

"I see that. Aren't you going to apologize for stunning me earlier?"

Michael Mizuno X:

"...I am sorry, Venus-chan. But you know why I did it."

Sailor Venus:

"I'll let this one slip... Next time it won't be so easy!"

Michael Mizuno X:

"Oh, you call what that was EASY? You're insane, Venus-chan!"

Sailor Venus:

"Well, perhaps not. I just meant I'll be the one coming out on top the next time!"

Michael Mizuno X:

"Is that so? Well the day that happens will be the same day Artemis forms a band and does a rock concert."

Sailor Venus:

"Grrrr! Michael-kun! I'll have you know that Artemis is quite smart when it comes to--- That's not the point!"

[Michael laughs as he and Venus leave the area. He stops for a moment, glancing over his shoulder]

Michael Mizuno X:

"I sure hope he can make peace with himself. Discovering the truth about Beryl and shattering what seemed to be his dreams and motivation in life isn't good for such a young boy..."

Sailor Venus:

"Since when did you care so much? All jokes aside I'm sure he'll be alright..."

Michael Mizuno X:

"The boy felt like he was ruled by destiny. He was ready to die because he thought it was destiny's will just because of his connection to the Dark Kingdom. I guess the reason I care is because... I once stared destiny in the face when I went to Neo Crystal Tokyo and saw my own grave. Ever since then, I've been fighting my own path, my own destiny. And I wanted that boy to know that destiny isn't written. Our choices are ours to make and can change."

Sailor Venus:

"For the first time I can honestly say that you're right, Michael-kun. We control our own lives. Everything we do and every choice we make will all influence how our lives will play out. We have to be careful, especially people like us when deciding how we want to be known and how we want to be remembered."

Michael Mizuno X:

"I couldn't agree mo-- hey wait, what do you mean 'first time'?!"

Sailor Venus:

"Everyone has their disagreements Michael-kun. It's just a part of life! No need to be so dramatic!"

Michael Mizuno X:

"I'll show you dramatic you blonde haired--"

Sailor Venus:

"Hm?"

[The two continue their conversation as they walk into the sunset, Michael can be heard arguing as the scene fades to black]
