Alright, I'm sick of this. I've tried multiple offers over and over, because my family can't afford to waste money on a game. However, my offers don't work! They don't even show on the offer status page.

So, If you're reading this right now, I want you to make a thread just like. I want this problem to be seen by imvu, because i'm really sick of it.

Just ten minutes ago, my computer got a blue screen from being overloaded by all of the obvious viruses in installed on my computer in the hopes of getting a few points.

So IMVU, either give me my deserved credits, or wait for the hackers and cheaters to get them for me. Your bloody choice.

This is what we generally tell users who are not receiving their credits from the partner offers:

Quote:
MISSING SURVEY/OFFER CREDS: you must contact whoever runs those offers and ask them. Go to the page offering the deals(http://nl.imvu.com/earn/credits.php then click partner offers) and go to "view status". Find your offers on the page and read the status of the offers. Go on "missing credits" next to your offers. Also read the FAQ for issues that may stop you getting the credits. There is a link after all that information to request help from that company.

This thread will tell you all the different ways to earn credits (even without doing offers): Credits And You: The FAQ. There are many ways available to earn credits -- they just take some work, knowledge and a bit of skill.

Moved to proper forum.

Yes, I feel the offers, for the most part, are either bogus or data mining or hackers or virus planting sites. I will never click on the offers - if you do, and you give any real information, you'll find out what kinds of crafty people run these offer sites. You'll either end up with tons and tons of spam/scam emails or else you'll end up with your personal information stolen and used for nefarious reasons or else you'll end up with a bunch of viruses, trojans, keyloggers, etc. on your computer. I never trust clicking anything online as I know how desperate the bad people are to take advantage of those who are too desperate wanting something for nothing. IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS. NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE (and by free, I mean there are no free rides in life - there's always a catch).

It seems I only get my credits from watching the videos, which only give you like 8cr each. I never click on any that tell me to download anything and I never give out personal info. Perhaps the only legitimate one that gives you a lot of credits would be that NetFlix one.

It's very rare that I get credits from them too, that's why I never do them anymore.

It's really unprofessional of any site to have this, especially since you can get virus from them.

IMVU's Stance is that they 'have no control over partner offers'. That is a lie. They host the offers, no one 'forces' them to do that. Any respectable company would tell their partner, 'Either get rid of the virus crap, or we will switch partners' And considering spreading viruses knowingly is a breach of service for ANY web hosting company, whatever arrangement IMVU may have, contract or otherwise would be easily gotten out of by that fact alone. If your partner is doing something illegal, then... I am pretty sure most contracts can be trashed heh.

Yah, us devs are "third-party" too, aren't we?
The message I guess they wish to convey is that we can spread viruses when a person clicks on our items too?

I mean hey bro, third party, right?

Imvu's stance on virus propagation reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Peter gets clinically proven as mentally handicapped, walking around town being an ass, getting out of it going, "SORRY, RETARDED!" over and over to people.

Yes the offers are bogus.

I have tried many over the years and it's either download something which most likely contains a virus, trojan or worm, or hand over sensitive information. I have an e-mail account that I attach to the offers I do with IMVU, and it gets upward of 50 spam messages a day.

They know me as John Smith from 122 Main Street though so it's not that bad.

It is disgusting that IMVU continues to host these offers when it is clear that the programs are malicious. A simple google search on the majority of offers will turn up websites of forums pointing to the viruses on the programs. IMVU does not help with the problem, blaming the people who are giving these offers. Those people ignore you of course as they continue to infect IMVUs playerbase.

People don't have to do the offers either. You can blame IMVU, but they don't have any control. Before the offers people were screaming for ways to earn free credits - and IMVU provides it, and people are on their case about it. Kinda makes you think, huh?

Anyone on the internet should have some basic knowledge. One of those things is that certain companies are mining your data, and keeping track of your habits, when you perform these offers.

From what I can tell, and have learned, most people don't even read the terms and conditions of the offers that they are applying for. If you don't meet them, it doesn't matter that you gave away all your information - you don't qualify, and thus will not get your credits.

The vast remainder after that never follow the process to check up on their offer statuses... they give up. (If you don't complain, if you don't check it out - sorry, you can't really complain in my eyes, because you should know what these people are after, and you should know that the vast majority of customers do not complain - and they know this).

Finally, a statistically tiny number of people have actual issues getting credits back from the offers - and those are the result of the companies focus being on the data mining, and not returning your effort in credits.

Again, the fact many of these things are trojans and viruses have nothing to do with data mining. Nor does it have anything to do with complaining about it. And again, IMVU does have control over it. If you willingly associate yourself with people who host and spread viruses, you are the only person to blame for that. IMVU is no different.

Broadly speaking,i have to agree with badboy here. Anyone with an ounce of sense will realise that you get nothing for nothing in this world. I mean, when was the last time you walked down the street and someone you'd never seen before gave you 500 pounds,or a plasma tv?. There will always be those who want something for nothing, and these third party survey people know this, thats why they always do good business,so i have no sympathy whatsoever to those who bitch and complain about not recieving credits,or getting viruses on their computer. And what really amazes me,is that most of those who are complaining and stamping their feet actually admit to STILL doing the surveys dispite knowing what happens if you do!. How crazy is that?. And as someone else pointed out on this thread,i too am sick of hearing that IMVU are not responsible for third party activity here .. just who's site is this?,who arranged for them to use this site?. Lets not forget,as i said earlier, you get nothing for nothing in this world, and this also applies to those survey people. Do you think IMVU lets them use this site out of the goodness of it's heart?. Of course not, they pay IMVU for the privalige, that's why you wont see IMVU step in and do anything .. they'll lose revenue. If you don't want to get ripped off .. if you don't want viruses on your computer, simply STOP taking the surveys, it's not rocket science.
